rpg
get it!
what is this "greg rpg?"
Greg is a "quirky, Earthbound-inspired" role-playing video game starring the titular Greg character.
The game's story revolves around Greg trying to regain ownership of his childhood home, in which an old woman has taken residence in order to sell flowers. The old woman turns out to be strong and buff, which forces Greg to get good at fighting people - so he can kick her out in the end and restore justice.
This kind of plot may raise questions. My answer to every worry is this: it came to me in a dream. Not the attacking old women part, but returning to a familiar place and finding it inhabited by someone foreign part. I don't actually recommend beating up old women. Or any people for that matter. Oh, and fun fact, Jerma the streamer was in that dream also. So he is in the game also (but he's called "Zeremy" to avoid copyright infringement).
The current code base of the game has been in development since January 2nd, 2023. I use Godot Engine. Development has been slow - my initial plans of releasing it in 2023 did not come to fruition, as you can tell. But it is here now.
My favourite part of developing the game was making music for it. Who would've known? Some of it is as old as before April of 2022. I think it could even be called the one redeeming quality of this game.
My dear, dear friends were of big help with making this game. They really seem to quite like it! The support is very motivating. Not to mention all the ideas and feedback I received. And playtesting. I always loved the playtesting. And also the awesome drawings they draw. And the whole stories they came up with the game's characters before I could even finish anything. Thank you, friends! Would not be here this far without you.
Before all the university business, I tried keeping up a weekly devlog schedule. That fell off quite quickly, but feel free to read the posted ones to get an outdated fragmentary view on the game's state.
A Tumblör exists for the game also, check it out for its links to Youtube videos.
